August 21, 2015 Statistics Canada Production of Principal Field Crops July 2015

Statistics Canada released the July 2015 production estimates for field crops on August 21. The 2015 flax production for Western Canada is estimated to be 884,000 tonnes. The estimated yield for flax in Manitoba is 24.5 bushels per acre, Saskatchewan is 19.9 bushels per acre and Alberta is 29.3 bushels per acre. The Saskatchewan and Alberta yields are down compared to the 2014 crop but total production is up because of an estimated increase in seeded acres compared to 2014.
